Israel-Lebanon Ceasefire Begins
A 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has begun. The fighting killed over 2,100 people in Lebanon.
It also forced more than 2.1 million people to leave their homes. Lebanese civilians began returning home on Friday.
Some returning civilians fear the ceasefire will not hold. The Lebanese army reported several ceasefire violations in the southern border region.
The UN chief António Guterres called for both sides to fully follow the ceasefire. He hopes it leads to peace talks. President Trump announced the deal and invited both leaders to the White House.
Klear Note — Israel and Lebanon border each other in the Middle East. Ceasefires are agreements to stop fighting. They often break down without a lasting peace deal.
