Israel Plans to Control 70% of Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered forces to take control of 70% of Gaza. He also stepped up military action in southern Lebanon.

Netanyahu said Israel is "squeezing Hamas" in Gaza. Hezbollah said it launched dozens of drone and rocket attacks on Israeli troops.

The attacks targeted Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon and northern Israel. Hezbollah said it struck Israeli soldiers and tanks near the town of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah.

Those soldiers had crossed the Litani river into the area near Nabatieh. Lebanon's Prime Minister Nawaf Salam criticized the attacks on the Tyre and Nabatieh regions. He called them "collective punishment" of peaceful civilians.
