The Israeli military described the attacks as "precision strikes" against Hezbollah and said Israel was responding to what it accused Hezbollah of being a violation of the ceasefire that began in June.

Israel also issued its first evacuation alert in weeks for a southern town, calling on residents of Mansouri to leave. The evacuation call preceded the reported strikes on the area, which forced families to flee.

Another Israeli airstrike hit a cemetery in Tebnine. The bombings were among Israel's deadliest in Lebanon since the June ceasefire began. They took place as US-backed negotiations in Rome sought to end months of cross-border hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah.
