Israel Starts West Bank Land Registration

Israel will begin a land registration process in the occupied West Bank. The process could let Israel control large areas for future building.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called it continuing settlement expansion. The Palestinian Authority rejected it as illegal land seizure. Several Arab countries said the move breaks international law.

Klear Note The West Bank is Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967. Land registration could let Israel claim ownership of areas Palestinians live on. This move deepens a long dispute over who controls the land.
