Israel Strikes Hamas Military Leader Despite Ceasefire
Israel launched an airstrike in Gaza on Friday. It targeted Izz al-Din al-Haddad, the leader of Hamas's military wing.
Hamas confirmed he was killed in the strike. Israeli officials said at first they were unsure if he was killed or hurt.
The strike hit a residential building in Gaza City's Rimal area. At least 7 people were killed and 50 were hurt.
Israel used 3 jets and 13 bombs in the attack. Israeli leaders said al-Haddad was the last senior Hamas figure involved in the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel.
They also said he was blocking Trump's plan to disarm Gaza. The strike happened despite an ongoing ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
Klear Note — A ceasefire is an agreement to stop fighting. Israel and Hamas agreed to stop fighting, but this strike broke that agreement.
