Israel Strikes Lebanon on Peace Deal Signing Day
Lebanon and Israel signed a peace framework agreement on Friday. The deal was brokered by the United States.
It aims to bring peace and disarm Hezbollah. The two countries' ambassadors to Washington signed it.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the deal a blow to Iran and Hezbollah. But Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem rejected it as null and void.
Hezbollah also condemned the deal. On the same day Israel struck southern Lebanon.
At least two people were killed in the strikes. The towns of Mayfadoun and Nabatieh al-Fawqa were hit.
Israel says it will keep its security zone in southern Lebanon. It will stay until Hezbollah is disarmed. So a full withdrawal is not expected soon.
