Israeli Strikes Kill 18 in Lebanon Halting Nuclear Talks
Israel struck more than 80 Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. Lebanese leaders said 18 people were killed.
The Israeli military said the strikes followed repeated ceasefire violations by Hezbollah. Four Israeli soldiers were killed before the strikes began.
Iran then cancelled nuclear talks that were set for Friday in Switzerland. Switzerland also announced the talks were postponed.
US Vice President JD Vance cancelled his trip as a result. France asked the US to pressure Israel to stop fighting.
The US and Iran had recently signed a deal to end their conflict. That deal included a stop to all fighting in Lebanon. The new Israeli strikes put that deal under serious pressure.
