Kushner is President Trump's son-in-law. The meeting covered housing, immigration and high living costs.

They also discussed possible cooperation between Democrats and Trump. The talks did not lead to a final agreement.

Reports say Kushner also suggested Jeffries meet Susie Wiles. Wiles is the White House Chief of Staff.

Jeffries and Kushner have stayed in touch for years. They worked together on a criminal justice bill.

That happened during Trump's first term. Jeffries could become House speaker after November's elections.

This would happen if Democrats win control of the House. The midterm elections will decide control of Congress.

That control lasts for the rest of Trump's term. The New York Times first reported the meeting on Sunday.
