Judge Blocks Deportation of Palestinian Activist
An immigration judge blocked the Trump administration from deporting Mohsen Mahdawi. Mahdawi is a 34-year-old Columbia University student and pro-Palestinian activist.
He holds a green card. Mahdawi is from the West Bank.
He was arrested last year during a US citizenship interview in Vermont. Lawyers filed the judge's decision on Tuesday, February 18.
The filing went to a federal appeals court in New York, US. Mahdawi said he is grateful to the court for honoring the rule of law.
Klear Note — A green card lets non-citizens live and work in the US permanently. Green card holders have strong legal protections against deportation.
