Jury Reports Second Deadlock in Lindsay Clancy Trial
A jury reported a second deadlock in Lindsay Clancy's trial. Clancy is accused of killing her three children.
The children died in Duxbury, Massachusetts in January 2023. Jurors could not decide if Clancy was criminally responsible for the deaths.
This was after about 28 hours of deliberation. It was the trial's fifth day of deliberations.
The judge told jurors to keep trying. She sent them back for more deliberations.
A third deadlock would lead to a mistrial. Clancy was a labor-and-delivery nurse in Massachusetts.
Her defense does not dispute that she strangled the children. Instead her defense focuses on her mental health after childbirth.
The jury may consider murder, manslaughter or acquittal. It could also decide she was not guilty due to insanity.
