King Charles Visits US Despite Shooting Scare

King Charles and Queen Camilla will arrive in the United States on Monday. President Trump is hosting them for a state visit in Washington DC.

The visit includes a garden party and a banquet. Charles will also speak to Congress.

His speech marks 250 years since US independence. No British monarch has spoken to Congress since Queen Elizabeth II in 1991.

Security concerns arose after a gunman targeted an event on Saturday April 25. President Trump was at that event.

Security talks took place and the visit was confirmed. Trump said King Charles will be "very safe." The royals will also visit New York and Virginia.

They will see the September 11 Memorial. They will attend a 250th anniversary event in Virginia.

The visit aims to strengthen US and British ties. But the two countries disagree over the Iran war.

The UK declined to join the US military operation against Iran. Prime Minister Starmer has publicly criticized it.
