Kushner Meets Netanyahu After Rare Hamas Talks on Gaza
Jared Kushner held rare talks with Hamas leaders in Egypt. Kushner is Donald Trump's son-in-law and a US envoy.
The talks lasted over two hours and focused on disarmament. Kushner then arrived in Israel.
He met Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Monday. The meeting aimed to revive a US-backed Gaza peace plan.
Israel had rejected that plan. Hamas said it agreed to the plan's roadmap.
It includes a ceasefire, full Israeli withdrawal, relief and rebuilding. But the plan remains stalled over timing of these steps.
Israel wants Hamas to disarm before troops pull back. The peace plan links disarmament to Israeli withdrawal instead.
