Latvia's United List Appears to Win Election
Latvia's United List party appears to have won the election. Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs leads the party.
More than 99.9% of votes were counted. State television said the party had 35.4% of the vote.
Euronews reported that the party won. Deutsche Welle said it appeared to be Latvia's biggest win since independence.
Kulbergs looks set to stay in power. But the result does not by itself secure him another term.
United List is projected to get 42 of 100 Saeima seats. The Saeima is Latvia's parliament.
Coalition talks are expected because a multiparty coalition is needed to govern. Euronews also reported that populists gained ground.
