LeBron James has signed a 2-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. The contract is worth $8 million.

James is 41 and turns 42 in December. He will enter his 24th NBA season.

That breaks the old record of 22 seasons. His career is now the longest in league history.

Before choosing Philadelphia, James also considered other teams. These included the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Reports say the deal includes a player option. It is described as a veteran's minimum contract.

This marks a big pay cut for James. He earned about $52.6 million with the Los Angeles Lakers last season.

James said on social media he considered retiring. Instead he decided to keep playing with the 76ers.
