French President Emmanuel Macron hosted European allies at the Bastille Day parade in Paris. It happened on Tuesday.

This was Macron's last Bastille Day parade as president. Many leaders stayed overnight in Paris to attend.

They belong to a group called the Coalition of the Willing. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky joined Macron.

About 30 other leaders also attended reports say. The parade featured 500 coalition troops including soldiers from Ukraine.

European warplanes also took part. The display showed European military support for Ukraine.

Ukraine continues to face Russia's ongoing invasion. Reports say a severe heatwave and forest fires hit France during the parade.

These conditions led to canceled fireworks and firefighter events in some regions. The day also marked 10 years since the 2016 Nice truck attack.

People observed a moment of silence for that attack. Bastille Day celebrates the storming of the Bastille in 1789. That event started the French Revolution.
