Man Arrested Over Threat to Shoot Nigel Farage
Police arrested a man in his 20s on Tuesday. He is suspected of posting a threat online.
The message allegedly threatened to shoot Nigel Farage. Farage leads the UK's Reform UK party.
Parliament staff reported the post to police in May. The arrest followed a months-long investigation.
The man was held overnight then released on bail. The case now goes to prosecutors for a charging decision.
The alleged post said the writer would shoot Farage in the head if he won. It was posted on May 8.
That was the day after local elections. Farage has said he gets up to 30 death threats a week.
This is reportedly the first such threat case to lead to an arrest. The arrest comes amid rising concern over politicians' safety.
This follows a reported attack on former minister Ann Widdecombe. Counter-terror police reportedly called that attack targeted.
