Man Sentenced for Vinegar Attack on Representative Omar
Anthony Kazmierczak, 56, was sentenced Thursday to 14 months in prison. He sprayed vinegar at Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar.
This happened during a town hall in Minneapolis on 27 January. The sentence came after he made a plea deal with prosecutors.
It arrived nearly eight months after the attack. Kazmierczak's attorney said he had not been taking his mental-health medication before the attack.
The attorney said this lowered his inhibitions. The attorney said it contributed to the attack.
The town hall happened while Minneapolis faced an immigration crackdown. That crackdown led to protests and arrests.
Klear Note — A plea deal is an agreement resolving criminal charges without a trial.
