France beat Senegal 3-1 in their World Cup 2026 opener on Tuesday. The match was at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States.
Kylian Mbappe scored in the 66th and 96th minutes. Substitute Bradley Barcola scored France's third goal.
Ibrahim Mbaye scored Senegal's only goal. Mbappe now has 58 goals for France.
This makes him France's all-time top scorer. He passed the previous record held by Olivier Giroud.
Mbappe also now has 14 World Cup goals in total. This puts him third on the all-time World Cup scoring list. He is one goal behind Ronaldo's 15 and two behind Miroslav Klose's record of 16.
