Mexico Arrests Top Cartel Boss El Jardinero
Mexico arrested a top cartel boss named Audias Flores. He went by the name El Jardinero.
Flores led a large part of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel along Mexico's Pacific coast. He was once head of security for the cartel's founder.
He was also seen as a possible future cartel leader. Mexico also arrested César Alejandro who is linked to the cartel as a money launderer.
After both arrests gunmen blocked roads near Reynosa. Reynosa is a border city in the state of Tamaulipas.
The United States embassy told its workers to stay away from Reynosa. The situation there became unsafe.
Reports say Mexican Navy special forces made the arrest after 19 months of watching Flores. Sources say the operation used over 500 troops and six helicopters.
United States intelligence also helped. The United States had offered $5 million for information leading to Flores. Mexico also captured another top cartel leader in northwestern Mexico.
