Minibus Collision Injures 19 and Halts Le Shuttle Service
A minibus carrying truck drivers hit a train in the Channel Tunnel. The collision injured 19 people.
The minibus was heading to a loading platform to board Le Shuttle. That platform was at the French-side terminal near Coquelles, France.
Le Shuttle carries vehicles and their passengers through the tunnel. The train was stopped on the French side of the tunnel.
Two of the 19 were seriously hurt. Two people were flown to hospital.
Officials said no one's life appeared to be in danger. The collision halted Le Shuttle vehicle service.
But Eurostar and freight trains were not affected. Le Shuttle restarted slowly later that evening.
This was about 90 minutes after the collision. Authorities have launched an inquiry into what caused the collision. Officials said the cause was not yet known.
