Monfils Exits Final French Open; Boulter Advances
French tennis player Gaël Monfils has been knocked out of the French Open in Paris. It was his last ever appearance at the tournament after 21 years.
Monfils lost to Hugo Gaston in five sets. He fought back from two sets down but could not finish the comeback.
Monfils has said he will retire at the end of the 2026 season. Also advancing was Katie Boulter of Great Britain. She beat American wildcard Akasha Urhobo to reach the second round.
Klear Note — The French Open is tennis's biggest clay court tournament. It happens every year in Paris. Monfils played there for 21 years before retiring.
