Morocco Blocks Migrants From Entering Spanish Ceuta

Moroccan authorities blocked migrants from entering Ceuta on Saturday. Ceuta is a Spanish territory in Morocco.

UPI reported 111 migrants were blocked. Other reports said dozens were blocked.

Most of the migrants came from sub-Saharan Africa. The crossing attempt happened near Fnideq in Morocco.

Fnideq is also called Castillejos. Morocco says 61 people were detained.

Morocco and Spain sent thousands of security officers to the area. This happened after social media calls for another mass crossing.

Several crossing attempts were stopped. This followed a mass crossing in late July.

That earlier crossing involved tens of thousands of migrants. Humanitarian groups said at least 141 people died in that crossing.
