Netanyahu Criticizes Own Minister Over Detainee Video

Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir posted a video online. It showed about 430 activists detained from a Gaza-bound ship called the Global Sumud Flotilla.

Many detainees were shown bound and kneeling. Ben-Gvir added the message "Welcome to Israel" to the video.

He was also seen waving an Israeli flag. He told guards "not to be bothered by their screams." The flotilla was stopped near Cyprus on May 18.

Activists were held at Ashdod port in Israel. The video drew anger in Israel and around the world.

France, Italy, Greece, Germany, Spain, Ireland and the UK all criticized it. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu publicly criticized his own minister.

He said Ben-Gvir's actions were "not in line with Israel's values." Israeli Foreign Minister Sa'ar also criticized Ben-Gvir. Netanyahu then ordered the detained activists to be deported.
