News Outlets Sue Trump Administration Over White House Ban
President Trump banned CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House. He announced the ban on Friday September 18.
Trump said the outlets had published fake news. The three outlets filed a lawsuit against Trump's administration.
They filed it in a Washington DC court on Monday. They want their White House access restored.
They called the ban a direct attack on the First Amendment. Also on Monday CNN was removed from the White House press pool.
ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC stopped coverage in solidarity with CNN. No reporter would replace CNN for Trump's trip to New York.
The trip was for the UN General Assembly meeting. Major networks later suspended TV coverage of the trip.
The White House then launched "Trump TV." It posted "Trump TV is Here" on September 21. Trump said he would probably lose the lawsuit. He blamed a judge he had appointed.
