Obama Family's Dog Sunny Dies at 14
Sunny Obama was the family's second Portuguese Water Dog. She died on Tuesday at age 14.
Former President Barack Obama announced her death Wednesday morning. He and Michelle Obama shared the news publicly.
"Yesterday we lost a cherished member of our family," Obama wrote on social media. He called Sunny "a force of nature." He remembered her as athletic, energetic and protective of Bo.
He also said she was afraid of water. Sunny joined the family at the White House in 2013.
She spent 13 years with the Obamas. She met visitors there including Pope Francis.
Sunny was the family's second dog after Bo. Bo died in 2021.
