Pakistan Court Returns Petition on Imran Khan Hospital Move
Pakistan's Supreme Court sent back a government petition today. The petition challenged an order letting Imran Khan move to hospital.
The government filed the petition yesterday. Khan was taken from Adiala jail to a hospital.
His party said he went to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad. He was moved under heavy security for medical treatment.
The Supreme Court had ordered the transfer within two days. It said specialists and Khan's own doctor must join a medical board.
The order followed a legal fight over Khan's medical care. Khan was removed from office in 2022.
He has been in prison for more than three years. He was convicted on corruption charges.
His supporters said his health had gotten worse in prison. They had long demanded he receive hospital care.
His sister and party members had asked for the transfer. They cited concerns about his health and access to doctors.
