Pakistan Says US-Iran Peace Deal Nearly Done

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says the US and Iran have agreed on a final peace deal text. He says the deal could be signed within 24 hours.

A senior Trump official also confirmed a deal could come soon. Iran's Foreign Minister said an agreement has never been closer.

Negotiators agreed on the final text on June 12. The deal still needs Trump's final approval.

It would extend a ceasefire for 60 days and open nuclear talks. Iran would get economic rewards only after meeting its obligations.

Those obligations include handing over nuclear material or closing nuclear sites. The Strait of Hormuz would also reopen as part of the deal.

Pakistan has been a key go-between in the talks. Both sides have struggled to reach a deal since April. Recent clashes near the Strait of Hormuz pushed both sides toward an agreement.

Klear Note The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway between Iran and Oman. About one-third of world's oil passes through it. US-Iran tensions have disrupted global trade and energy prices.
