Pentagon Blacklists Alibaba, Baidu and BYD

The US Pentagon added Alibaba, Baidu and BYD to a list of firms it believes help China's military. The updated list was released Monday.

It now includes 188 firms. That is up from 134 in early 2025.

These listings are not sanctions. But from June 30 2026 the US Defense Department cannot sign contracts with listed firms.

China said Tuesday it firmly opposed the decision. Beijing asked Washington to correct what it called the unreasonable suppression of Chinese firms.

China's Washington embassy also called the listing discriminatory. The update came less than a month after President Trump met Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

The Pentagon had briefly posted a similar expanded list in February. It then removed that list without explanation before Trump's China trip. The updated list was reposted on Monday.

Klear Note This list blocks US military from buying from these companies starting June 30. The Pentagon says these firms support China's military development.
