Platner Wins Maine Democratic Senate Primary
Graham Platner won the Democratic Senate primary in Maine on Tuesday. He got about 77.7% of the vote.
Platner is a combat veteran and oyster farmer. He beat Governor Janet Mills who had paused her campaign in April.
His win came despite a personal scandal revealed the week before. Mills has not yet backed Platner.
Platner is now focusing his message against Susan Collins. Collins is the Republican senator in Maine.
Primary elections were also held Tuesday in Nevada and North Dakota. Full results in Maine could take more than a week.
Klear Note — Primary elections let voters pick their party's candidate for the general election. Maine's general election in November will determine who represents the state in the US Senate.
