Pope Leo Plans Lung Nodule Surgery in Coming Days
Pope Leo is set to have surgery to remove a lung nodule. He announced the operation during the Angelus in Saint Peter's Square.
The surgery is due in the coming days. It is planned for the first days of the week.
The operation is set at Gemelli Hospital in Rome, Italy. The Vatican expects he will need about a week to recover.
Doctors found the nodule during recent medical checks and advised removing it. The nodule was spotted at a very early stage. The pope did not say the nodule was cancerous.
Klear Note — A lung nodule is a small spot of tissue in the lung. Finding one does not by itself mean cancer.
