Pope Leo XIV Visits Equatorial Guinea
Pope Leo XIV is visiting Equatorial Guinea in Africa. The country is known for human rights abuses and is one of Africa's most closed-off states.
This is the last stop on an 11-day trip across four African countries. The trip also included Algeria, Cameroon and Angola.
During the visit the Pope toured a prison. He urged Equatorial Guinea to serve law and justice.
This is only the second papal visit to Equatorial Guinea ever. The first was Pope John Paul II in 1982.
Klear Note — The Pope is the leader of the Catholic Church worldwide. Papal visits to countries show the Church's support and can influence leaders on human rights issues.
