Pope Starts First Africa Tour in Algeria
Pope Leo XIV arrived in Algeria on Monday. This is the first papal visit ever to Algeria.
Algeria is a majority Muslim country. The Pope wants to build friendship between Christians and Muslims there.
He also honors Saint Augustine, who was born in Algeria. The tour covers 4 African nations over 11 days. Africa is a fast-growing Catholic area in the world.
Klear Note — The Pope is the leader of Catholics worldwide. Africa has more Catholics now than Europe. This visit shows the Church's focus on growing faith in Africa.
