Péter Magyar Sworn In as Hungary's Prime Minister
Péter Magyar has been sworn in as Hungary's prime minister. He arrived at the Parliament building in Budapest for the ceremony.
This ends Viktor Orbán's 16-year rule. Magyar's Tisza party won a large victory nearly a month ago.
They secured a two-thirds majority in parliament. That is the largest vote share in Hungary's post-Communist history.
Magyar has called a public celebration outside Parliament. His top priority is unlocking about €17 billion in European Union funds. Those funds were frozen under Orbán over rule-of-law concerns.
Klear Note — Viktor Orbán led Hungary for 16 years. The EU froze billions in funds over concerns about democracy and rule of law.
