Putin Arrives in Beijing Days After Trump Left
Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing for a state visit. This is his 25th trip to China.
Putin arrived four days after US President Trump left China. Trump visited China from May 13 to 15.
Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping plan to discuss the Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline. They are also expected to sign about 40 documents.
The two leaders plan to adopt a joint statement on a 'multipolar world.' Russia hopes Middle East energy problems will push China to be more flexible on pipeline pricing. China has repeatedly delayed the project as part of its energy strategy.
Putin said Russia and China's relationship has reached an 'unprecedented level.' The Financial Times reported that Xi told Trump that Putin would 'regret' invading Ukraine. China's government rejected that report.
