Reform UK Receives Record £72m in Donations
Reform UK received a second £36m donation on Saturday September 12. Cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne gave the money.
He matched a £36m donation from fellow billionaire Ben Delo. Delo made his donation on Friday September 11.
The combined gifts now total £72m. This is described as the largest political donations in British history.
It is also the largest ever gift to a UK party. Reform UK party leader Nigel Farage said he felt humbled.
Reports say Farage faces an investigation by Parliament's standards watchdog. The investigation concerns an undisclosed personal £5m gift from Harborne.
The donations have raised concerns about money in British politics. Harborne said he supports Reform because its policies could attract investment.
He said those policies could also fund public services. Delo co-founded the cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX. He moved back to the UK from Hong Kong.
