RFK Jr. Faces Seven Hearings in Seven Days
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the US Health Secretary. He testified in 7 budget hearings over 7 days.
This was his first time back in Congress since September. Two Senate hearings were scheduled for Wednesday.
The biggest was before the Senate Health Education Labor and Pensions Committee. Senator Bill Cassidy sits on that committee.
Cassidy is a Republican who helped make Kennedy the Health Secretary. But Cassidy has criticized Kennedy's views on vaccines.
The hearings focused on a proposed budget cut of over 12% for the Department of Health and Human Services. They also covered vaccine policy changes. This comes as measles cases in the United States have passed 1,700 in 2026.
Klear Note — Health Secretary oversees US health programs and budgets. Budget hearings let Congress question spending plans. Measles is a serious disease prevented by vaccines.
