Robert Kraft Pledges $2 Million After Ed Sheeran Call
Robert Kraft owns the New England Patriots football team. He said singer Ed Sheeran called him personally.
Sheeran asked Kraft to give $2 million for humanitarian aid. Fox News, BBC and CNBC reported this.
Kraft then pledged $2 million toward aid in the region. Reports did not confirm the money would go to Palestinian groups.
Kraft said Sheeran's request came before rapper Macklemore's public challenge. Macklemore had pledged $1 million from his tour earnings.
That money went to six Palestinian-aid groups. Macklemore challenged Kraft to match his donation.
Kraft's pledge turned out to be double Macklemore's amount. Reports also said Macklemore was removed from Sheeran's tour.
This happened after Macklemore made pro-Palestinian comments at MetLife Stadium. Kraft linked the removal to those comments. He also cited what he called a history of antisemitic rhetoric.
