Robot Wins Half-Marathon Beating Human Record

A humanoid robot won a half-marathon race in Beijing, China on Sunday. The race was only open to robots.

The robot finished in 50 minutes and 26 seconds. That time beat the human world record for the half-marathon.

The human record was set by Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo in March. His record was about 57 minutes.

So the robot was roughly 7 minutes faster. The winning robot was built by Honor, a Chinese smartphone maker.

Last year's winning robot finished in 2 hours 40 minutes and 42 seconds. The technology has improved very fast in just one year.

Klear Note A half-marathon is 13.1 miles, half the distance of a full marathon. This robot race shows how fast robotics technology is improving.
