Royal Mail Plans Up to 2,500 Job Cuts by 2027
Royal Mail plans to cut up to 2,500 jobs. The company wants to finish the cuts by the end of 2027.
The cuts are part of a business restructuring. They will focus on head office and support jobs.
Other non-frontline roles are also targeted. Reuters says jobs would go as workers leave or volunteer to go.
That is less than 2% of its more than 131,000 employees. Royal Mail faces strong competition and falling letter deliveries.
Reuters says letter volumes have fallen more than 70% from their peak. Reuters links the restructuring to reform of the Universal Service. The BBC says Royal Mail also faced fines for missing delivery targets.
