Russia Finance Minister Left Out of G20 Photo
Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov attended a G20 meeting in the US. President Trump had invited him.
But he was left out of the official group photo. European ministers had threatened to skip the photo if he appeared.
Germany's finance minister Lars Klingbeil was among them. One attendee called his appearance "quite troubling." Siluanov met separately with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
He said the meeting was productive. Bessent discussed Trump's Ukraine peace plan with him.
US officials said the meeting was needed for "dialogue." This was Siluanov's first in-person G20 finance meeting since 2022. That's when Russia invaded Ukraine. His presence created tension with European officials.
Klear Note — The G20 is a forum where countries discuss global economic issues. He last attended an in-person G20 finance meeting in 2022.
