Russian Anti-Putin Artist Shot Dead in Poland
A Russian artist was shot and killed in Poland on Monday. His name was Robert Kuzovkov.
He was known for drawings that mocked leaders like Vladimir Putin. Five shots were fired at him including one to the head.
The attack happened in a car park in Biała Podlaska in eastern Poland. This was about 600 metres from the Belarusian consulate.
Two Belarusians were arrested in connection with the killing. Kuzovkov had moved to Poland in 2021 to escape political danger in Russia.
Three days before his death he protested outside the Russian embassy in Berlin. He held up a drawing showing Putin alongside Soviet leader Josef Stalin.
Klear Note — Kuzovkov fled Russia in 2021 due to political danger. Artists who criticize Putin face serious risks in Russia and neighboring countries.
