Russian Drone Hits Romania and Injures Two People

A Russian drone crashed into an apartment building in Galati, eastern Romania. Two people were hurt: a 53-year-old woman and her 14-year-old son.

Both were treated for burns. The drone was part of a Russian attack on Ukraine.

It went off course and hit Romania instead. The drone flew in Romanian airspace for about four minutes before impact.

It carried explosives that went off on impact. Romania is a NATO member.

This was the first time a drone hit a home building in Romania. There had been 28 earlier airspace breaches before this.

Romania's leaders called the drone's flight a serious break of international law. Romania asked the Russian ambassador to come in for a formal meeting.

Romania also asked NATO for faster anti-drone tools for its military. NATO condemned Russia for the incident.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said the alliance will defend every part of its territory. The incident raised tensions between NATO and Moscow.

Klear Note Romania is a NATO member, so NATO must defend it if attacked. Russia's war in Ukraine often sends drones across borders into neighboring countries.
