Search Underway After Grand Canyon Flash Flood
Officials said Sunday that over 20 people are missing or unaccounted for. This followed flash flooding at the Grand Canyon in Arizona.
The flooding hit Bright Angel Canyon and Phantom Ranch. This happened on August 29.
One report said only 15 people may be missing. A search is underway for the missing people.
The National Park Service said at least 62 people were evacuated Saturday. The flooding destroyed nearly all footbridges across Bright Angel Creek.
This cut off hikers' access to the area. Phantom Ranch, Bright Angel Campground and the North Kaibab Trail are closed.
More evacuations are planned. The National Park Service asked the public for help.
They want information about hikers, backpackers and campers. These people may have been in the affected area.
