Senate Votes to Debate Voter ID Bill
The Senate voted 51-48 on Tuesday. They agreed to begin debate on the Save America Act.
This bill would require new voters to show proof of citizenship to register. The Save America Act was previously called the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act.
Klear Note — Voter ID laws require people to show identification when voting. Supporters say they prevent fraud. Critics worry they make voting harder for some people.
