Senator Lindsey Graham Dies at 71
Senator Lindsey Graham died Saturday night. He was 71 years old.
Graham was a Republican from South Carolina. His office said he died from a sudden illness.
Emergency workers responded to a cardiac arrest call at his Washington home that night. Graham had just returned from a trip to Ukraine.
There he met President Zelenskyy of Ukraine. Trump said he had spoken with Graham hours before his death.
Graham's death leaves his Senate seat empty. South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster may name a temporary replacement.
Republicans are working to find both a temporary and permanent successor. Graham had won the Republican primary in South Carolina last month.
He was expected to win re-election in November. Trump is considering a replacement for Graham. But Trump said it is too soon to reveal his choice.
