Singer D4vd Pleads Not Guilty to Murder Charges
Singer D4vd pleaded not guilty to murder on Monday. His real name is David Anthony Burke.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office announced the charges hours before his court appearance. He faces first-degree murder charges.
He also faces sexual abuse of a child and mutilating human remains. The murder charge includes special details like lying in wait and killing a witness.
Prosecutors say he could face life in prison if found guilty. The victim was Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a 14-year-old girl.
Her body was found in D4vd's abandoned car in September. Prosecutors say Burke killed Rivas Hernandez on or around April 23, 2025.
That was the last day she was seen alive at his home in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles. They say he mutilated her body about two weeks later.
The District Attorney said the alleged reason was to protect Burke's music career. Prosecutors say Celeste may have been about to report their sexual relationship.
Klear Note — First-degree murder charges are the most serious crime. Life in prison means the person stays in jail for their entire life if convicted.
