S&P 500 and Nasdaq Hit Sixth Weekly Gain
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq kept rising this week. Both indexes rose for six weeks in a row.
That is their longest winning run since October 2024. First-quarter earnings were better than expected.
This pushed US stocks to new records. About 84% of S&P 500 companies beat earnings targets.
That is the best result since mid-2021. Total earnings ran 20.7% above forecasts. Strong results from Apple, Alphabet, Amazon and Meta helped drive investor confidence.
Klear Note — The S&P 500 and Nasdaq are the main US stock indexes. When companies beat earnings targets, investors gain confidence and buy more stocks.
