Starmer Accuses US of Meddling in British Democracy
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer says the US is trying to interfere in British democracy. This came after US Vice President JD Vance blamed immigration for the death of a British student.
The student was 18-year-old Henry Nowak who was stabbed and killed. But both Nowak and his killer were British nationals.
This directly challenges Vance's claim that immigration was to blame. The killer was convicted of murder this week and sentenced to life in prison.
The minimum term set was 21 years. The US State Department also posted online about policing in the UK.
This added more strain to US-UK relations. Nowak's family said they do not want his death used to create further division.
Klear Note — The UK and US are close allies. Comments by US officials about British internal matters are seen as unusual interference.
