Sununu and Pappas Win New Hampshire Senate Primaries
John Sununu won the Republican Senate primary in New Hampshire. He beat Scott Brown on Tuesday.
Democrat Chris Pappas won his party's primary too. He beat Karishma Manzur.
Sununu and Pappas will face each other in November. They are running for the Senate seat held by Jeanne Shaheen.
Shaheen will retire when her term ends in January. Trump backed Sununu in the Republican primary.
Pappas is a four-term US representative. Shaheen endorsed Pappas for the seat.
Pappas is leaving the House of Representatives. Sununu served one Senate term before from 2003 to 2009.
He lost the seat to Shaheen in 2008. Brown previously represented Massachusetts.
Republicans hope to win this open Senate seat. Early polls call the November race competitive.
Klear Note — New Hampshire's Senate seat is open because incumbent Shaheen retires in January.
