Sweden's Prime Minister Resigns After Election Loss
Sweden's Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson resigned after Sunday's election. His centre-right government lost to the centre-left opposition.
The margin was reportedly just one seat. Magdalena Andersson leads the centre-left Social Democrats party.
Kristersson's resignation lets Andersson try to form Sweden's next government. She is not yet prime minister.
Andersson gave a victory speech on Thursday. She said Swedish people voted for a new direction.
She said they voted for unity not division. Sweden's parliament will start forming a new government on September 28.
Klear Note — Winning the election does not automatically make Andersson prime minister. Parliament must begin forming Sweden's next government on September 28.
